Dealing With A Small Office And Silk Flowers

Sunday, September 5, 2010

What can we do to decorate the office space? This is a question that has been asked several times over. There are many offices that do not have the proper lighting to support the growth of a plant. Also, the office may be a little small and you don’t feel there is enough room. Also, the watering of the plant may not get done when it should. Yes, I can understand that and I have a small office myself, but I decided instead of worrying about a live plant, that I would l get some artificial flowers.

Silk flowers are very realistic and they don’t need watering, trimming or plant food which sure makes having silk flowers pretty darn easy. Now, as far as the room goes, I only have two places: one place is over the filing cabinet and I put a silk hanging basket there; and the other one is on a table that has some books and a radio on it. I was able to put one of my favorite flowers there and that is the orchid. I got this beautiful silk orchid arrangement that is sitting in the artificial water and it sits on top of the radio and I know that is not much, but it sure helps make the office feel so much better. So, if you have a small office, I understand where you are at, but you do have at least one or two places to put silk flowers or a silk plant.

At the time you are in the process of beautifying your home or office a very important step is creating the right desirable atmosphere. To achieve this atmosphere, it will take several things, such as styles, colors in paint and materials, textures, and of course, furniture. When having natural tones and textures in your decorating, you will need to place some nice greenery throughout your décor which will bring everything together and your room will come to life. A very strong trend now-a-days are using artificial plants due to the natural looks and the longevity of the silk plants that will last.

Placing this greenery is important, also getting the right shapes and sizes will compliment your décor. When putting a silk plant on a table, you will want it to be a shorter plant and not go too much over 12 inches tall. A silk hanging basket is a great idea for those corners that look somewhat bare in the ceiling area, and when it comes to filling an area with a silk tree you don’t want it to be too tall. So, a good rule of thumb is no closer than 1.5 feet to the ceiling. Yes, silk plants and silk trees can bring your décor to life, also making it a great atmosphere.

When it comes to decorating the office or home, you want to make sure that you don’t have to move something, to get at another item, on a regular basis. For example, you don’t want to put a live plant on a shelf with other things in front of it that could get damaged by watering the plant. You also don’t want to put a live plant up high that needs to be watered on regular bases. We do want to have our décor adorned with plants because they really add to the homey feeling and helps give us relaxing feelings.

For those hard to get at places, or maybe they are just inconvenient places, a silk plant may be in order for those places. You don’t have to water or trim them and maybe once, every time you do the dusting in that area, dust the silk plant while you are there. This takes care of the maintenance needed by any artificial plant. If you aren’t the green thumb type, you also may consider having other silk plants such as some silk trees and some nice silk flowering plants for the areas that the sun just doesn’t get at. Take some time and go online and you will find some good quality silk plants to adorn your office or home.

We know that many people have heard of silk plants before, but many of them drew up conclusions to their final thoughts several years ago. Since that time, they have not looked at them; or did they? I would almost bet that in many cases, they have seen them but mistook them for real plants. Now with that happening, you can rest assured that this has happened over and over again.

This speaks load of the realism that has been achieved by the industry today. The construction of the pedals on the beautiful silk flowers and the greenery of the leaves on the silk trees and silk plants are by far extra ordinary. When people have come in and watered that silk plant or silk tree, that is the biggest complement artificial plants could ever obtain. This has happened more times than you might think. If you are in the group of people that have not taken a closer look at the beautiful world of silk plants and what they can do for your interior be it the home or workplace, don’t wait any longer! There are so many ways that they can be a benefit to you and your interior.

What Size Plant Works In Different Areas

When decorating any space, you need to understand the plant height needed for the areas you want to put them. You don’t want to put a 5’ tree on a table because it would be way to overbearing and, in the same token, you wouldn’t want to put a plant standing 24” in height in the corner on the floor. When dealing with live flora, you sure need to have protection for your tables or floor so they don’t get ruined from moisture, while with silk plants you won’t have that problem.

For a tabletop tree, a good size is 24” to 36” height and, with some silk plants or silk trees you can shape them for that area. Using a silk plant or silk tree, choose one that has a little larger leaf because they are meant to be noticed. In most cases, for a corner area, you would want to choose a slimmer and taller silk tree such as a silk bamboo tree. Using some of these ideas will enhance the elegance of your décor and give you peace of mind. Remember, there are more pluses for using silk plant and silk trees and they will last several times over live plants and will keep their beauty with minimal maintenance.

Proper Shaping Of A Silk Tree After Purchase

So you have decided to get a beautiful silk tree and add it to your decor and we know you will be very happy you got it. Depending upon which type of silk tree you got will determine how you should shape it. For a silk bamboo tree. it is pretty much straight up and down while a silk ficus tree will be flared out much more. It is a good idea that if you are not sure of how your new silk tree should be shaped, to look that species up on the internet. This will help you understand what you will need to do for making your silk tree look as natural as possible.

We will give you an idea of how to shape the very popular silk ficus tree. After pulling the tree out of the box, set the tree in an open area giving you more room to move around the tree. This will also give you room to step back and see if you are accomplishing what you want. Start at the bottom of the tree and take the wired leaf branch and slightly bend the branch in a slight arch while still going slightly upward and some other branches can be a little straighter but yet still moving out away from the trunk. The wired branches will hold the shape you put it in. You may need to play with this shaping for a few days until you get the shape you want it. Most silk trees will come without a decorative container, so to help your new silk tree be all it can be, install it into a nice container that will complement both your tree and décor. We have published a blog on how to install a silk plant into a basket on May 20, 2010. On May 8th, 2010 we have one on the installation of a silk tree into a terra cotta type container. We know you will enjoy your smart investment in silk plants and silk trees that need very little maintenance.

It is a wonderful thing when we go into an area that has a warm and homey atmosphere. It does have an effect on everyone that enters and it radiates through each person’s actions. Using a good blend of colors, styles, textures, and furniture pieces creates this atmosphere. Greenery will play a very important part when using more natural tones and textures by giving life to these areas. More and more people are learning that artificial plants are a very viable item to use when decorating the office spaces; and, of course, in the homes that we reside in.

You will find that you have much more control over the sizes and shapes of the particular silk plants you choose to have in your decor. An example of this is for a plant sitting on a table, you might choose a Bonsai tree; and there are different sizes and shapes available in silk plants. It is best not to go closer to the ceiling than 2 feet with a tree and with silk trees you can not only control their height but you can also control the width. Also take into consideration the size of leaves and the fullness of each silk plant. When it come to a corner, and the ceiling and walls are bare, a nice hanging silk plant can do wonders for that area. So as you see, you can add lots of atmosphere in an elegant way with silk plants and silk trees.
