Using Silk Flower For Your Silk Flower Arrangements

A room can come to life when flowers are in the room. This can be easily done with silk flower arrangements. You can use either pre-made silk floral arrangements or, if you like, you can make your own beautiful silk flower arrangements. If you are one with a little talent and some artistic ability, you will feel right at home doing your own silk flower arrangements or even do them for others. Silk flowers normally come on longer stems and can be cut to make any size silk floral arrangement that you desire.

Silk roses, daisies, Hydrangeas and silk orchids are very popular and make some very nice and elegant silk flower arrangements; but there are many other types of silk flowers available. Faux water in clear vases is used and gives the effect of fresh cut flowers in a nice loose silk flower arrangement. You can also use other types of vases such as clay or synthetic vases. In planning your silk arrangement, you need to consider the colors that will enhance the room where it will be placed and also consider the size. For a dining room table, you don’t want a tall arrangement because it can block people from seeing others across the table. A silk flower arrangement in the entry way that sits on a table in from of a mirror can be taller and even extend above the bottom of the mirror. The flowers should not extend out further than one and a half times the size of the vase, as a general rule. You can have fun and enhance your décor with silk flowers.

Using Silk Flowers for Season Specific Decorating

Some people like to have static decorations in their home throughout the year, but I like to change my décor to correlate with the seasons. Sometimes it’s as simple as changing my lampshades or switching the accent pillows on my couch, while other times my changes are systemic. One of my biggest secrets, however, is to use silk plants in my decorating.

During the wintertime, for example, I adorn my home with wreaths and rhododendrons, which never have to be watered of course. Then when the season is over, I simply store them in my attic until next year. Earlier this year I invested in some spring silk flower arrangements, and I loved them so much that I cheated a little bit and left them out a few extra months.

Flowers that Last More than a Week

If you love the look of fresh flowers in your home, you’re not alone. Lots of people trek out to the market regularly in order to adorn their homes with the freshest and best smelling flowers. But this can feel like a losing battle. Flowers begin to die the second they’re cut, and that means they only have a few days of looking really nice before they start to brown and wilt.

Unfortunately, you can’t replace all that real flowers offer in one fell swoop. When it comes to aesthetics, silk flower arrangements are indistinguishable from the real thing and maintain there appearance with little to no upkeep. In order to achieve the rich, floral aroma, however, you’ll have to devise other means—whether that’s potpourri, essential oils or scented candles.

If you are the kind of person that is a little on the creative side, or one that likes to learn new things, then that can be used in a decorative way by taking a look at doing some simple floral arrangements. Instead of using real cut flowers, use some silk flowers. Silk flowers can be worked and reworked several times over and still look very good in the final silk flower arrangement. By taking a few different silk flowers and putting them in a clear glass container, with very little arranging work they will look as good (if not better) as a few first class roses out of the best garden and last much longer.

By going into several kinds of magazines such as Better Homes and Gardens you can get many ideas of the look that appeals to you and that will work in your décor. Also flower arranging classes are available at some craft stores and also they will have books on flower arranging at very reasonable prices. Most of the flower arranging techniques will work with both real flowers and silk flowers. One main thing with silk flowers is that in a very short time they will be cheaper overall than having to rebuy real flowers to cover prior mistakes. Just remember that this should be a fun and a learning adventure that can lead to many beautiful silk floral arrangement centerpieces. Quality silk flower stems are available at several retail stores and online with good discount prices.
